A merchant in Alaska was having difficulty with false alarm of the Sensomatic Detection system located at the front door of his store. One of the Detector Guard Posts on either side of the door was located too close to the product display shelf. The sensor on the products located on the shelf would periodically cause the store alarm to sound, causing a false alarms and an embarrassment to the store manager. MWT engineers were called in to help design a protective shield which could be installed on the opposite side of the Sensomatic Detector Guard Post to eliminate false alarms. Since the frequency of operation of the Sensomatic System is so low (about 20 to 40 MHz) our standard electrical absorber is not effective. We were able to develop a special RF shielded fabric which was able to provide the isolation on the back side of the Guard Post. The product is our MAC-2130-GP Flexible Absorber material. This material is very thin, lightweight and flexible, and can be cut or custom fabricated into any pattern necessary.
