A major military airport in France had experienced considerable problems with radar reflections from a large industrial chemical tower in close proximity to the airport runway. The government had directed that the tower be removed, unless a method was devised to reduce the radar reflections from the tower. MWT engineers were called in to recommend a solution to the problem. Engineers recommended that our standard Microwave Absorber Blankets, MAC-6200, be redesigned to increase the size of the blankets and attach them to a backboard which could be installed onto the side of the tower facing the GCA radar. This installation solved the reflection interference problem and allowed the chemical plant to continue operation.
